It’s been nearly two months since my last post on here and, truthfully, I’m not quite sure why. Of course the 70+ hour work weeks I’ve been logging could have something to do with it, but I’m also contemplating the likelihood that the burn-out monster reared its ugly head.
Regardless, I miss blogging, reading your blogs, and keeping up with the happenings in everyone’s financial lives. While I can’t say exactly when I plan to be back on a strict blogging schedule, I am confident that I’ll be back in fighting form sooner than later. Until then, I hope to at least get back on the commenting wagon, and I hope to see some visitors here.
In terms of my finances and progress on my goals, the news is ugly, uglier, and ugliest. However, I’m ironically quite content with my (at times quite scandalous) choices. In a complete departure from my typical no-spend habits, I’ve gone a bit rogue:
- I frittered away nearly $2,000 in the month of August–but I had an amazing time squeezing in impromptu weekend trips to visit college friends and siblings. Despite the crazy spending, I wouldn’t trade these experiences for much else because they’re allowing me to maintain some semblance of great work-life balance even though I’ve been working insane hours.
- I decided not to have another roommate when my most recent one moved out–No matter her quirks or our random encounters living together, we’re definitely still friends and I’m very thankful for that as well as the time we spent living together/bonding. But I’ve discovered that I’m craving my space and a home office. Unfortunately, I’m now out over $700/month.
- I’m contemplating a trip to Dubai in the spring–It will be tough to figure out a time that works with my new work schedule (which by the way, I.LOVE.MY.JOB!!!), but I’m toying with the idea of taking advantage of another killer TravelZoo deal.
- I placed a customized order for a 2013 BMW 328i–Yep, I’ve committed a cardinal PF sin. I’m not sure the reality of this purchase has quite set in given I won’t be picking it up until November–when I head to Germany as part of the European Delivery Program they offer….eeeeekk!!!!
What’s been going on in your world?

I'm glad you posted! I've missed you and your blog
That's so exciting about the new car! You need to post a picture of it when you get it.
Glad you love your job also.
Hey Michelle! I've missed you, too! But I'm baaaaAAAaaack….
AHHH OH MY GOD I AM SO HAPPY! How have things been for you?
I love that you are going to Germany to get your car. It's a good reason to keep it for the long haul. Most expensive souvenir ever.
Hahaha…so true! We leave next week…wahoooooo!
Of course the one day I don't check your blog is the day that you write a post lol. Good to see you are kind of back. That's awesome you are enjoying your new job and it sounds like it is allowing you to do many things. Although 70 hours a week doesn't sound too fun to me but then again I don't love my job. Hope all is well with you.
Ahhh! Thanks for sticking around and for commenting! Hope all is well with you, too
WOW!!! What made you decided to get a BMW?!!?!
I've always wanted one and my new salary lets me afford it on top of aggressive savings/retirement/mortgage payoff goals. Or…. I'm crazy?! :p
Nice to see you posting again!
Thanks! Nice to see comments from you!
Oh man that's a fancy car!
I'm glad you are enjoying your new job, especially since you disliked your old job so much.
What are you doing?
Thank you! Internet marketing…oh yeah
How is your job going?!
I've missed you. I'm glad to hear you're spoiling yourself – you work hard, you should be able to play hard sometimes. Definitely blog about your trip to Germany to get your fabulous new car!
Thank you! And absolutely–leaving next week!
Welcome back.. oh.. that's a cool car btw
Holy Crap??? I'm just as happy as I am surprised by this post. The awesome new custom new car along with accompanying trip being the biggest surprise. I'm happy to read you are happy and just because you've spent a bit doesn't mean you have been irresponsible. I have utmost faith that you've been responsible with everything that is happening. The job being great is awesome as well which means less worry.
In regards to myself, I too have been away for almost two months. I decided to say goodbye to blogging for now as I see where life takes me at this time with everything else happening. I'm still trying to make time to read what's going on the blogging world though cause I've made some awesome friends I can never truly say goodbye to.
It was a surprising post to read after being gone so long but still happy all the same. Happiness is important.
