Part of the reason I didn’t put more into savings last month was because I found a fantastic an incredible deal on TravelZoo.  If you don’t know what TravelZoo is, please head over now and see for yourself what an amazing discount travel site this is!I’m not being compensated for this post and these are purely my personal opinions, but I have never found a better site for cheap vacation deals.  Of particular interest is their Weekly Top 20, which comes out every Wednesday and is where I found my latest deal.

Every Wednesday, I torture amuse myself by checking my inbox for the Weekly Top 20 email.  I happily peruse the deals, envisioning myself taking off to one of the many exotic locations advertised, and all at a fraction of the normal cost.

A few Wednesdays ago, I found myself particularly intoxicated by one deal:  An 8-night hotel package in the Greek Islands that includes all intra-island transfers.  The price?  $499 per person.  Yes, you read that correctly–less than $500 for eight glorious nights in the Greek Isles.

After thinking obsessing over this deal all week, I finally pulled the trigger just before midnight of the night the package would expire.  Yes friends, yours truly will be spending 10 days in Greece in the fall. I’ve already paid for this package completely–$518.68 including all taxes, fees, etc. As I’ve mentioned before, I’m stacking my credit card and airline rewards points to get a free flight to/from Athens (I do have to pay the $14 September 11th surcharge though).

I’ll be posting more updates regarding the financing of this trip, but it’s safe to say that the budget will be the last thing on my mind given how cheaply I’ll be able to do this.  Add in the fact that this crosses off #10 and #17 under the Travel/Adventure section on my “Life List,” and you have yourself one very Happy Homeowner right now!!
