Oh what a wild two weeks it’s been! Before I share the details, I want to apologize to all of my readers, followers, and those of you who submitted guest posts. Apparently Blogger ate all of my scheduled posts while I was away, hence the disgusting lack of activity on here since my departure! Rest assured that everything will be re-typed and published for your reading pleasure sooner than later.
Now on to the fun stuff. From what I gather, most people begin their vacations with visions of rest and relaxation dancing through their heads. I am no different, but I somehow managed to have what I deem to be one of the most stressful starts to a vacation ever…
The day I was leaving began as any other day because I was going to work a half day. When I woke up, I noticed a red, swollen bump on my arm that was painful to the touch. Thinking that some scandalous spider had feasted on me during the previous night, I wrote it off, jumped on my bike, and pedaled to work. By the time I reached my office, the bump had swelled and the redness had expanded in size.
As the morning hours waned on, the heat and pain radiating from my arm necessitated a quick call to my doctor. Upon sharing my symptoms with the nurse, she wasted no time in demanding I visit the nearest hospital. Keep in mind this was 5 hours before I had to board my plane to Greece!
I quickly finished up my projects, passed over the necessary info to my boss, and high-tailed it to the ER. One look at my arm and I was triaged right into the nearest room. Long (but fun, yes?) story short, I at some point had been bitten by a tick and now needed to be treated for Lyme Disease. The best part is that I’m allergic to the antibiotics that are the standard treatment protocol, so I sat wondering if I’d make it to the airport while my doctor tried to figure out the best course of action.
Three prescriptions later, I somehow managed to get to the airport on time and board my flight for what ended up being an amazing trip filled with incredible views, food, and adventure. Additionally, I managed to come in $256 below budget! Stay tuned for those long-lost posts, October goals, and the usual daily weekday ramblings!
I'm glad you're ok. And I want to see pictures!
Looking forward to the long post. Seems like you had an awesome trip minus the ER visit.
