Cyprus is a major tourist destination in the Mediterranean: its beaches and resorts are very popular.
There are many things to do if you choose to spend your summer holidays in Cyprus. You can stay out late and party with your family and friends, visit wineries, visit beaches, attend festivals and much, much more. And, if you’re like me, you want to save money on holiday as well.
There is great nightlife in Cyprus
Do you like to be the life of the party? Is dancing your thing? There are many things to do if you enjoy the night life. There are many bars, pubs, clubs and everything else to visit. Maybe you’ll find an average bar to attend, or maybe you want something super luxurious. There is something here for everyone to visit.
Visit wineries
Are you a fan of wineries? Who isn’t a fan of wineries? There are over 50 wineries in Cyprus, and many of them offer very great samples of their wine. A popular place to visit are the Krassohoria Wine Villages, where you can check out the Agia Mavri Winery and its award-winning white muscat. September visitors should make a point of visiting the annual wine festival in Lemesos as this is always a great place to visit.
Visit Beaches
Cyprus’s geographic location in a ray-catching corner of the Mediterranean makes it a very popular place for those who live in Cyprus and those who are visiting. The sun is great and makes for a fun and relaxing time. There are many very beautiful beaches for everyone to see. May and September are the best months to visit the beaches in Cyprus, as there are less people and it will be less crowded. The weather is still great in these months and the water is still warm enough to swim in and lay next to.
Attend a Festival
The two most popular events of the year in Cyrpus are Carnival and the Lemesos Wine Festival.
Carnival is Cyprus fills the streets and brings many people out. Carnival lasts for around two weeks and is very popular. Although festivities take place in towns all over the island, Lemesos hosts the most famous merrymaking. Carnival begins approximately 50 days before Easter, on the second Thursday before Lent. On Green Monday, after the last day of Carnival, it’s customary for those in Cyprus to head to the fields to begin the 40-day countdown to Easter, when tasty vegetarian food is on the picnic menu to mark the first day of fasting.
Lemesos Wine Festival is Cyrprus’ festival which celebrates grapes, of course! Wine and wineries are very popular in Cyprus, so this festival only makes absolute sense. Over 100,000 people are said to attend this festival.
Ahh, I LOVE Cyprus! I lived there for awhile during high school. Relaxing mountain scenery, gorgeous beaches, amazing nightlife, incredible food…well, I could go on! We lived on the Greek side of the island, but frequented the Turkish side. There are also numerous affordable cruises that take you around the Greek islands.
