Weekend Miscellaneous: Nemo Edition

Well played, Nemo; well played. I haven’t seen a storm dump so much snow so quickly since my days in Colorado. Let’s just say the word of 2013 for most Bostonians will be SNOOOOOOW! for quite some time.

Here are a few peeks into the madness for those of you who didn’t see these on feed…

The Wrath of Nemo:

Winter Storm Nemo 2013 Winter Storm Nemo 2013 Winter Storm Nemo 2013 As you can see, most of the roads here were turned into sledding hills, cross-country ski courses and snowshoe slaloms. In a matter of 24-30 hours, we received over 27 inches of snow. For a city like Boston, this an insane amount of snow–there’s really no place to put it!

Luckily, we did manage to get up to the mountains for some snowboarding today (ironically, the mountains received less snow than the city thanks to this latest surprise from Mother Nature).

Unfortunately, coming back to reality was quite difficult given the current state of the city: Snow piles that are 10+ feet tall, narrow side streets that have yet to be plowed, power outages and–my personal “favorite”–epic battles over precious parking space.

Because of the storm, my new car was parked in the garage at a friend’s house. That meant my old car (which I haven’t sold yet) was left to fend for itself because we took my BF’s car up North. This is what I returned home to tonight:

Winter Storm Nemo 2013

Thanks for snowblowing all the snow out of your driveways onto my car, neighbors!

Let’s just say tomorrow is going to be a very, very interesting day.  :)

Stay warm out there!

  1. That is a crazy amount of snow! Looking at your photos helps to cool me down sitting here in this Australian heat.

    • Hahaha..I'd happily take that sunshine sent this way! Although yesterday was really warm and rainy–it helped me shovel out my car so I could actually drive to work :)
