Today is an exciting day here at The Happy Homeowner as my first post for a new staff writing position with Quizzle (external link) has just gone live!
If you’re visiting here for the first time, welcome! If you’ve been reading for a while, today’s post features a collection of my favorite posts; the oldies but goodies….
Also, don’t forget to enter my cash giveaway!
Personal Finance
- For my first Masters degree, I completed my studies at Harvard. The cost of my degree? A mere $500. Read more about how I obtained my Masters degree from Harvard for $500–without scholarships!
- My financial journey hasn’t always been filled with sunshine & roses; in fact, it was downright horrendous for a while. Want to read the highlights? My Confessions of a PF Blogger series chronicles my financial past story by story. Stay tuned for more installments in the coming months.
- In fact, the ugliest part of my debt payoff journey was being saddled with way too much credit card debt. Luckily, I managed to pay off all $14,000 of it in less than a year once I got my financial house in order.
- But paying off a balance like that wasn’t easy. First, I had an epiphany one day while in a store charging yet another mindless purchase.
- Eventually, it led to me having six different jobs and funneling every penny possible towards kicking it to the curb. During this process, I developed some tips and tricks for how to manage multiple jobs.
- In the years following, I slowly (but surely) changed my bad financial habits in an effort to build a sustainable, stable financial future for myself.
Travel
- I’m an avid traveler, and I pride myself on finding ways to cut costs whenever possible. Most recently, I booked over $1,400 in travel arrangements for less than $520.
- In order to figure out if a deal’s truly worth it, I’ve developed a set of discount travel tips that actually save you money.
- One of my favorite things to do is to recap my adventures through photos here on The Happy Homeowner. Here are some photos from my trip to Greece and my trip to Ireland. Stay tuned for the long overdue recap of my recent trip to Europe (Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Lichtenstein and Italy).
Fitness
- I also enjoy running, and I’m always looking for ways to draw parallels between my training efforts and financial plans, such as in my post about how marathon training plans can help your finances.
- After running the Boston Marathon last spring, I highlighted what 26.2 miles can teach you about personal finance.
- My love of fitness extends beyond running and includes biking as well. In particular, biking to work. I’m such a fan of the fitness benefits and financial savings that I wrote about my 10 reasons for biking to/from the office.
As always, thanks for stopping by!
